Wind Power |
Why Wind?
- With an average growth rate of 30%, wind energy is the fastest growing clean energy source in India
- The wind energy generation potential of India is far from exhausted. Indian Wind Energy Association has estimated that with the current level of technology, the 'on-shore' potential of wind energy generation is close to 45,000 MW of which less than 25% is harnessed till date
- Strong and clear policy frame work in place proving enabling environment
- Peak demand shortage of 10% creating a large supply-demand gap
- Provides a hedge against the price volatility of fossil fuels
Greenko is evaluating several opportunities for developing wind power capacities across multiple states
- Evaluating various sites for development in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Maharashtra
- Primary feasibility of these sites have been conducted
- Wind monitoring has been completed for sites totaling 315 MW in Andhra Pradesh
